    Belly Biography

Hard-edged pop band founded by former Throwing Muses member Tanya Donnelly, following her short stint with The Breeders. Formed in 1991 by Tanya with fellow ex-Muse Fred Abong and brothers Chris and Tom Gorman, they achieved some strong initial success in both the UK and US indie/alternative scenes.

Abong left the band during the recording of their debut Star, and was replaced by Gail Greenwood on bass and the subsequent tour boosted their popularity. However, their second album King, which was expected to build on the success of its predecessor, got a mixed reception and bombed.

Donelly disbanded Belly in 1996 and released her first solo material at the end of the year.

In February 2016 Belly announced their reunion for live shows as well as for the recording of new material.
