Freddy Fresh Biography
Freddy Fresh married 3 children. Born in Minneapolis 1963 Freddy has had quite a far reaching career in both the underground New York Hip-Hop scene and the modern electronic European/USA techno scene. Currently Freddy has been working with people like Fat Boy Slim (Norman Cook) The Freestylers, and Grandmaster Flash. Freddy was exposed to the South Bronx Hip-Hop and Breakdancing scene in 1983 when his Puertorican girlfriend (now his wife); took him to her home town of The Bronx New York. It was here that he became involved in the thriving Hip-Hop scene that was then unfolding at the time. Eventually he met up with B-Boy Records on 132nd St. in the South Bronx and Freddy ended up remixing a tune for Boogie Down Productions (Scott LaRock and KRS-1) Freddy also engraved the plaque that graces the cover of Boogie Down Productions first album. He is namechecked on the back. Freddy has been name checked by many "old School" rap groups like B.D.P., Public Enemy, The Audio Two and MC Lyte, recently Freddy has produced 3 tracks for the most recent Grand master Flash album on Morolboro Music in Germany, Freddy also recently remixed Grandmaster Flash's classic "Adventures on the Wheels of Steel" for Castle Music London England. Freddy has also remixed the classic "Gucci Time" by Schooly D for Jive Records New York City. Freddy recently toured with the Jungle Brothers on a UK tour and also appeared with The Sugarhill Gang, Jazzy Jay and Afrikka Bambatta also. Freddy became interested in electronic music through the "dawn" of early electro music like that produced by people like Jellybean Benitez at the Funhouse in New York, and also influental to his career were people like the famous multi-editing teams of The Latin Rascals, The Awesome Two, Omar Santana, The legendary Jose "Chep" Nunez, Joe Barrion etc.. Not to mention the legendary producers like Chuck Chill Out, Red Alert, Marly Marl, Flash, Grandmaster Caz, Spoonie G, MC Shan. Fresh has an extensive collection and knowledge of New York Hip-Hop music. Freddy eventually began producing techno styles of music under the monikers of "The Modulator", "Nitrate", "D.W.F.S." and The Invisible Man, and a host of other names. Having had the good fortune to work with people or collaborate with producers like Biochip C, Air Liquid, Alec Empire of Germany and tons of other electronic artists Fred most recently began to gravitate towards funkier styles of Dance music and "Big-Beat" and music with funky "breaks" Freddy recently had a top of the pops (top 40) hit record in London England with Fat Boy Slim called "Badda Badda Schwing" on Eye Q records London. Collectively Freddy has released well over one hundred 12" singles on labels all over the world and has released 5 albums with his most recent album entitled Freddy Fresh - The Last True Family Man distributed through Sony Music worldwide on Eye Q records. Freddy has now been to over 28 countries performing or DJing and has performed with bands like Metallica and Fun Loving Criminals and a host of other international acts worldwide at events like Glastonbury UK or the Reading and Leeds Festivals in Europe, he has headlined major events for literally hundreds of thousands of people.
