Hurby "Luv Bug" Azor Biography

Producer Hurby "Luv Bug" Azor has found a successful formula of pop-crossover rap production that has made his acts such as Salt-n-Pepa and Kid 'n Play multi-platinum stars. While attending the Center of Media Arts in Manhatten, Azor met Salt-n-Pepa, two aspiring female rappers who had written an answer record to Slick Rick's "The Show." Forwarding their demo to Marley Marl, Azor was able to secure the act a record deal and his production work on their debut album, Hot, Cool & Vicious led to the hit single "Push It." After the group's third album, Black's Magic, Azor stopped managing Salt-n-Pepa, but by that point he had already set up Idol Makers Management and Idol Makers Films to begin work on video projects for the other groups he managed. ~ Steve Kurutz, All Music Guide
