Little Jackie Biography

Little Jackie -- named after Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's 1989 single "Little Jackie Wants to Be a Star" -- are a duo consisting of vocalist Imani Coppola and programmer Adam Pallin, with production and songwriting assistance from longtime Coppola associate Mike Mangini (Leaders of the New School, Digable Planets, Joss Stone). Though not far from being a natural extension of Coppola's solo releases, the Little Jackie material is a little more pointed lyrically, and is sonically a pronounced throwback to a number of bygone but still fresh-sounding styles, from late-'60s soul to golden age hip-hop.
