Lola Ponce Biography
An actress and singer with a strong and intense voice, Lola Ponce was born in Capitán Bermúdez, a small town in the whereabouts of Rosario, Argentina, 25 Jun 1982. The daughter of singer Hector Ponce, Lola started singing as a child, forming at the age of 8 a band together with her brother Alejandro and then taking part to some important music festivals. Then, while still in her teens, Lola decided started her career as an actress, with roles in some of the most important Argentinian soap operas.
In 2001 Ponce released her first album, Inalcanzable, entirely sung in English. During a promotional tour in Spain she became part of the cast of Riccardo Cocciante's theatrical rock opera +Nôtre Dame de Parisin the role of the main female character, Esmeralda. She thus moved to Italy, where the musical became a huge success (four million spectators and one million copies of the soundtrack sold). After signing with Sony, Lola recorded her next record Fearless between Sweden and Los Angeles, and released it in 2004 both in English and Spanish. Then in 2005 she returned for a while in Argentina in order to take part to Sin Codigo, one of the most successful soap operas of the whole Latin America. In 2008 she won the Sanremo Music Festival with the Gianna Nannini-penned "Colpo di Fulmine", a duet with Giò Di Tonno. Then she released her third album, Il Diario di Lola. In the meantime, Ponce also acted in Massimiliano D'Epiro and Danilo Proietti's movie Polvere, singing in its soundtrack too. ~ Aurelio Pasini, All Music Guide
