Some of the pop, and adult contemporary artist's compositions came from his inner thoughts and feelings inspired by artists from the 60's, and 70's, particularly Carole King, The Carpenters, and The Dave Clark Five.
Born on the Southwest side of Chicago into a musical family, MICHAEL POSS (rhymes with Ross), and his three older brothers all played various musical instruments, ranging from the accordion, clarinet, and piano. æMy brothers and I would put on flashlight performances in the family basement.Æ Poss reflects, æEverything had an impact on me as I was growing up in Chicago; The Beatles, Dave Clark Five, The Association, The Rascals, and the sounds of Motown inspired and convinced me to do it myself.Æ
In 1992, with the encouragement of Gloria Hawkins, former A & R Executive at Word Records and Relations Executive at BMI (Broadcast Music Incorporated), Michael recorded and released a self produced CD single entitled CHRISTMAS IN CHICAGO, to all the local radio stations in his hometown. The Yuletide song, complete with a "Big Band" feel and lush strings, continues to garner warm responses with several radio personalities in his hometown. In fact, several radio stations were besieged by requests for the tune, which eventually caught the attention (and the ears) of several national radio satellite and digital networks. The song is broadcasted annually to over 4.7 million homes and 65,000 businesses on four continents for the holidays.
MichaelÆs new album "SILVER SCREEN SERENADES", is now available from Twilight Souls Music. The hour long CD pays tribute to cinematic love songs of the 20th Century with some forgotten classic standards and original compositions that will satisfy the most aesthetic film noir connoisseur. Michael Poss All Music Guide Biography
Raised in a musical household in the Southwest side of Chicago, vocalist Michael Poss found his muse in college by performing in local musical productions. Singing commercial jingles, modeling, and acting in local dinner theater led to Poss moving to Los Angeles in 1985 and involving himself in the nightclub scene there. After landing some roles on daytime soaps and an NBC sitcom, he independently recorded and produced a CD single entitled Christmas in Chicago, which earned him local success on his hometown radio stations. 1996 saw the release of I Can Feel You in My Heart, a pop album consisting almost entirely of Poss' own songs, and in 2000 he released a collection of classic film love songs, entitled Silver Screen Serenades. ~ Zac Johnson, All Music Guide
