The Welcome Matt Biography
The Welcome Matt, a.k.a., Matthew Langlois, is a New England native raised in Vermont currently based in San Francisco. Matt has written and played music in several underground bands in the Bay Area including Buddhakowski before the release of his first solo debut album. He’s had songs played on two major TV networks, FOX and NBC. The Welcome Matt has a residency playing acoustic at the Café Royale, "the gem of the Tenderloin in San Francisco" and has played venues such as the Great American Music Hall and Bottom of the Hill along with many other venues all over the greater Bay Area. Matt is currently being played on San Francisco/Bay Area’s largest radio station KFOG 104.5. His song, 'In San Francisco' was included on a KFOG CD compilation this summer, including other artists such as Michael Franti and Matt Nathanson. He may sound a little like someone you’ve heard of, but he’s nothing like you’ve ever heard before.
Matt intrigues you with his 'against-the-grain' take on music. His lyrics are edgy, witty and honest. Anyone who listens can relate to what this impassioned singer-songwriter has to say, which is why he gets continuous support from his loyal fan-base. He has released his 2nd album entitled "Empire Days" in July of 2004 and a third full length release in the summer of 2005 is expected.
Matt's music emerges straight from the heart with his keen sense of musical dynamics, his expressive voice, and melodies that soothe the soul. Singer-songwriters come along a dime a dozen, but the truly eloquent ones are priceless.
