  • Widespread Panic - Algerian rescuers try to save two men trapped under a building during an aftershock earthquake in Reghaia 27 May, 2003, 30kms east of Algiers. A strong aftershock measuring at least 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted Algeria late 27 May, causing widespread panic and at least 200 injuries as more quake-damaged buildings collapsed to the east of the capital. The aftershock occurred six days after a massive earthquake ravaged the region in the northeast of the country, claiming at least 2,200 lives, state radio reported.
