20th Century Fox is moving forward with its planned sequel to the 1987 film Wall Street. The studio is fast-tracking the film into production and hoping to lure Michael Douglas back to reprise his role as corporate swindler Gordon Gekko, who was famous for uttering the phrase "Greed is good." The studio is already claiming that Douglas will star in the film, but he was not formally attached at press time. Alan Loeb has been dispatched to write the screenplay.
The sequel will again place Gekko in the center of monetary action. He is recently released from jail and enters the volatile financial world atop which he once reigned. Surprisingly, Charlie Sheen will not return to his role as Wall Street hot shot and Gekko protege Bud Fox. Apparently, the Bud Fox character will not be featured at all in this film.
