Canadian R&B god delivers red hot new single, and you need to listen to it!
The Weeknd returns with a head trip of the highest order in the form of The Hills. It's as if he's soundtracking David Lynch's Mulholland Drive from the future. That's how scorching this one from the multiplatinum Canadian alternative R&B trend-setter is. With the immense success of "Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)" and "Often" following 2013's masterful Kiss Land, we can feel that another epic from this man is just waiting in the wings. If this is any indication, pop culture is in for a huge treat. We compiled 3 Reasons to love "The Hills."
3 Reasons To Love "The Hills"
3. The production is downright dark. Mano and Illangelo create a grinding Nine Inch Nails-style buzz that dips slowly into a slippery and slick soundscape. It's the perfect playground for The Weeknd's voice to run wild, and it does. This sees him at his darkest and also his most dynamic and daring, yielding a definitive tune in the process.
2. The music video is his most cinematic yet. Directed by Grant Singer, the narrative begins with The Weeknd bloody and emerging from a car wreck with a couple of angry girls dressed-to-the-nines presumably from something prior. He shakes it off and walks through the darkness with flames behind him, eventually ending up at a house that must be haunted to meet even stranger women on an ornate bed that looks like where Dr. Eldon Tyrell was relaxing in Blade Runner. It's ponderous and provocative. Would you expect anything less from the man who gave us "Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)"?
