78 Violet, a pair of lovely ladies who make pop music and are also sisters, sat down with ARTISTdirect to discuss their song "Hothouse."
In this exclusive chat, they talk about the track, which developed from a line in another song that was written months before. They didn't love that song, but they did love the line they wrote about the fragility of a hothouse flower, so they pulled that line, effectively saving it, and based a new song around it.
The track explores the notion of a hothouse flower, which is a delicate plant that does exist. They collaborated with Mike Einzinger, the lead guitarist of Incubus for the track, which was written in a studio in Malibu.
Overall, the song deals with the delicacy of a relationship and of walking on eggshells around someone.
Watch the video and let the sisters, named AJ and Aly Michalka, tell the story for you.
