The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has selected Sunday, March 7, 2010 as the date for next year's Oscars, which marks the 82nd annual ceremony. The Oscars are usually held in late February, but the organization picked a later date due to the extensive coverage ABC will be offering to the Winter Olympics.
The event will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood once again. Nominations will be revealed on February 2, 2010, which marks a return to a Tuesday announcement date. This year's noms were announced on a Thursday due to the Presidential inauguration.
Other key dates include December 1 for Official Screen Credits forms, December 28 for nomination ballots to be mailed, January 23 for nomination polls to close, February 10 for the mailing of final ballots, February 15 for the nominees luncheon, February 20 for Scientific and Technical Achievement Awards presentation, and March 2 for final polls to close.
