The Harlem rapper has plenty of fans in the musical community and beyond.
A$AP Rocky just scored his second #1 album on the Billboard Top 200 with sophomore full-length At.Long.Last.A$AP [A$AP Worldwide, Polo Grounds, RCA]. It seems like he's got everybody talking about him too and with good reason. The record is a classic straight out of the gate. He takes the booming Harlem timelessness of his debut Long.Live.A$AP that swizzle of Houston gusto and adds in expansive, entrancing, and enthralling psychedelica on record number two. It's a natural progression for the rapper because his sound, fashion, soul, and style have defied boundaries from day one. In addition, he leaps onto the big screen this month with a role in Dope out June 15. Given Rocky's ever increasing influence on pop culture, we spoke to some of the best and brightest in the game about what they think of him for this exclusive feature.
A$AP Rocky Gets Props From...
Big Boi of OutKast
Big Boi: "I'm down with A$AP Rocky and everything he's got going on. We worked on 'Lines' together with Phantogram from Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumours. Within hours of meeting each other in person, he was in the booth giving me a verse for the song. I like artists who possess substance in their music. He does. He brings something new to the table."
Wiz Khalifa: "I love A$AP Rocky. We still haven't hit the studio yet, but I think we need to. When he's ready, I'm down. It's always been fun kicking it with him and the Mob."
Tinashe: "He's amazing. We actually did ‘Pretend' on Aquarius about dealing with people who put on a front. It's a dope song. He killed it."
