Aaliyah Tribute Album Canceled

Permanently shelved. That's the status of a planned tribute album for singer Aaliyah, who died tragically in a plane crash in 2001.
Last year, Drake announced plans to drop an album including unheard samples from the late singer.
However, those plans were met with tons of criticism and Drake bailed.
Now producer Noah "40" Shebib has revealed that whole thing has been scrapped.
He told Vibe: "I've been obsessed with Aaliyah forever, and I know Drake has his relationship with her. But that opportunity (tribute album) was mine. Drake said, 'Can I do it with you?' and I was like, 'Of course, we'll do it together...'"
He continued, "The world reacting to Drake's involvement so negatively, I just wanted nothing to do with it. That was a very sad experience for me. I was naive to the politics surrounding Aaliyah's legacy. Aaliyah's mother saying 'I don't want this out' was enough for me. I walked away very quickly."
What do you think of the decision to scrap the album entirely? Is it respectful to let it lie or would it be the ultimate testament to her legacy to release a tribute? We think it's best to let it lie. We all love and remember Aaliyah through the music she did release while alive.
