With his debut solo EP, Town Line, Staind singer Aaron Lewis has crafted a veritable country masterpiece and one of the best albums of 2011. Lewis infuses vibrant storytelling into lush folk melodies, making for country that nods to George Jones and Hank Williams, Jr. while preserving Lewis's own style. Few voices out there are as powerful as Lewis's, and on Town Line he can be both warm and chilling. Just like with Staind, his lyrics also stand out, painting cinematic pictures and allowing listeners to walk these roads alongside the singer.
Aaron Lewis of Staind sat down for an exclusive interview and performance with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino. In this video feature, Lewis discusses singing "Rhinestone Cowboy" to anybody that would listen when he was a kid. He talks about writing about people, places, and things on Town Line and really conveying these tales. Lewis also discusses penning a brand new song while working on the next Staind album in the studio and how lyrics sometimes just bubble up at the most unique times.
