On Sunday, all four members of ABBA, Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad, performed together for the first time in 30 years to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary. The performance occurred during a private party in Stockholm, Sweden. A variety of Sweden's best-known artists and musicians attended the celebration, which began at "6:15pm and continued till "well after midnight." "Among those performing throughout the night were Fältskog and Lyngstad who got on stage to perform the song You and I, dedicated to Ulvaeus and Andersson, with the male songwriting duo joining in on the performance towards the end of the song thus reuniting the whole group on stage," reported Expressen, a Swedish tabloid newspaper.
"50 years ago, on June 5 1966, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson met for the very first time," explained the paper. Since that serendipitous meeting, ABBA have gone on to sell over 375 million records. The Mamma Mia! Stage show alone "has grossed more than $2 billion from more than 40 international stage adaptations and been seen by more than 55 million people," according to Billboard.
ABBA split up in 1982 and have not performed together since 1986. In January, the band joined together on stage for the first time in many years for Stockholm's Mamma Mia! The Party. It is rumored that the band once turned down $1 billion dollars offered for a reunion tour.
