AC/DC and their frontman Brian Johnson have addressed the spiralling rumors of the band's imminent demise by confirming they are hitting the studio next month. He wouldn't offer too, too much detail about the future, but did shoot down the talk of a split or retirement. Tour plans, it seems, will be on hold, but with good reason.

Reports have been published all week, suggesting the iconic band would be announcing its retirement due to the failing health of guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young.

We sat back, watched and waited until we heard it from the horse's mouth.

Here is the Facebook post, unedited.

"After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group's diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support. In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family's privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music."

Johnson also spoke to the media.

"We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver," Johnson told The Telegraph. "We're going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens, we'll record it."

So that's good news. But it's not all.

He furthered, "I wouldn't like to say anything either way about the future. I'm not ruling anything out. One of the boys has a debilitating illness, but I don't want to say too much about it. He is very proud and private, a wonderful chap. We've been pals for 35 years and I look up to him very much."

So Young is dealing with an illness, putting some of the band's plans on ice, but that doesn't mean retirement at this point. It sounds like they are waiting and seeing. They may make new music but not tour. We don't know. We have to give the band some space and some breathing room to deal with a member being sick.

We wish Malcom Young our VERY best as he battles health issues. He is on our thoughts and our prayers.
