Concert promoter AEG and the estate of Michael Jackson will contribute a cool $1.3 million to help the city of Los Angeles pay for costs the city incurred from last year's memorial service for the late King of Pop, according to a Los Angeles councilwoman. The service was held at the Nokia Theater and the Staples Center – where the Lakers play- in downtown Los Angeles, which are AEG venues.
Locals were up in arms that the city shelled out $3.2 million for the July 7 service, which was attended by tons of celebrities and brought lots of mourners to the event.
I am left to wonder what the hell is on this itemized tab. How much can a memorial service cost, beyond security and staffing? I am very interested and hope TMZ somehow obtains a copy of the bills so I can pore over it and scratch my noggin some more.
What do you think about the massive cost of the memorial? Excessive or worth it?
