Aerosmith may have endured a tumultuous end of 2009 and even more chaotic start to 2010, with rumors of vocalist Steven Tyler's imminent departure having nipped at the band's heels earlier this winter, but the drama is in the rear view, as the band will tour North America and play 18 summer tour dates with its "Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock" tour. The tour is the band's first North American trek since last August.
The tour will begin on July 23 in Oakland, California and will run through September 4 in Uncasville, Connecticut. The tour boasts an August 14 hometown show at Boston's Fenway Park, which sold out in a jaw-dropping 23 minutes. The J Geils Band will share the stage with the band at Fenway, while the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar and Wabos will open 11 of the tour dates.
Aerosmith have been touring as of late, having gone to South America last month. The ‘Smith will traipse across Europe 10-date run that starts with appearances at the Sweden Rocks Festival on June 10 and Britain's Download Festival on June 13.
In an official statement, guitarist Joe Perry commented on the geographical routing of the tour, saying that "this is a perfect time for us to tour North America as we are just completing a very successful tour of South America. We are looking forward to our European tour next month and then bringing our show back to our home soil. We are running on all cylinders." In the same statement, Tyler said, "I thought it was time to get my mojo back, by rockin' South America and Europe with a little home run at Boston's Fenway Park thrown in and then off to the rest of America to do what we do best! We're gonna rock you into the middle of next week!" Why not into the end of next week, Stevie? That way you'd rock us into Friday!
Tickets for some of the shows go on sale Friday. VIP packages are being sold via www.AeroForceOne.com or 508-791-3807.
