Aerosmith Drummer Supports Steven Tyler's Bid for "American Idol"

Joey Kramer, drummer for dino-rockers Aerosmith, is in full support of frontman Steven Tyler moonlighting as a judge on American Idol, which is one of the hottest rumors going in the music and entertainment media this summer.
"It could be a very positive thing," Kramer told Billboard.com. "We've been talking about it the last couple of days, and it's made me come to realize what a positive impact it could have for [Aerosmith]. The possibilities are kind of infinite with something like that happening, us being exposed to a whole new generation of people. So we'll see what happens. It should be interesting." Essentially, Aerosmith would benefit from a member being on one of the biggest shows on television. That is simple entertainment economics. Exposure on a major TV show means exposure for the band.
While no one will confirm the rumors that Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are joining the show to replace the departed Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres, Tyler did say that he has been approached to join the show's judging panel and that he is in negotiations.
Oh, and a little plug from Kramer. His 2009 memoir Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top has just been published in paperback.
Would Steven Tyler make a good American Idol judge?
