Legendary Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry spoke to Larry King on Larry King Now about his new memoir, his rocky relationship with Steven Tyler and much more.
About his turbulence with Tyler, which is actually quite typical of rock bands when it comes to lead singers and guitarists, Perry said, "I think that we had a lot of troubles separating our musical differences from our personal live…We still have our rough spots, but I accept the way he is, just like he accepts the way I am. I have to take as much responsibility for the bumps and the avalanches in the road as he does."
Sounds like they are in a good place.
As for his book Rocks: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith, now is the right time to make the reveals. Perry said, "I wouldn't have written the book 20 years ago because of some of the things that I put in there, 'cause I wouldn't have wanted my kids to read it, but now they're grown up."
Also, actor Johnny Depp wrote the foreword of Perry's memoir. Of Depp, Perry said, "He's an amazing guitar player and I — I can't say enough about his love for the blues and for the history for the music and, frankly, he's got one of the best guitar collections I've ever seen."
