Now, you have to understand something going into Tech N9ne's explosive new offering, Strangeulation. This is part of his ongoing "collabos" series. It's not the formal follow-up to last year's mind-blowing Something Else. Still, it's so powerful that it could be. Strangeulation stands alongside Tech's solo fare proudly because it features some of his most deftly architected raps to date. To put it more simply, the Kansas City independent rap king is on fire.

Tech blasts right out of the gate with "Strangeulation I" a nearly two-minute verbal barrage where he doesn't even stop for a breath. Nodding to his "Interlude" from Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV, he unleashes a stream of vicious verses in succession artfully weaving everything together in a catchy staccato. That's what's so wonderful about him. Listening to these songs is like riding a runaway train that could derail at any moment but it never does. Tech lays down such a solid track that listeners get the ride of their life instead. This is followed later in the album by "Strangeulation II", "Strangeulation III", and "Strangeulation IV" where everybody from Stevie Stone, Godemis, Brotha Lynch Hung, and Prozak get to go verse-for-verse with Murs ("the newest member of Strange), Kutt Calhoun, Bernz, Ubiquitous, Wrekonize, Big Scoob, Krizz Kaliko and Ritz in true collabos fashion.

The whole Strange Music team gets the spotlight here, and Murs really ignites "Hard (A Monster Made It)" alongside Tech. Together, they form a formidable duo over eerie production, delivering rhymes as hard and as fast as possible. "Over It" is an arrestingly melodic middle finger to the industry, while "American Horror Story" featuring Ces Cru lives up to its name as it's so punishing it should scare off any competition for miles. "Fear" is a dark reprieve with Mackenzie O'Guin, and "We Are All Free" leaves a solemn and soaring last word with Wrekonize and Bernz also representing.

For some of the most vicious and vital wordplay you will hear all year, get Strangeulation ASAP. It's another vision of Tech N9ne's genius and his reign over the rap game.
