Every once in a while, a soundtrack captures the exact feeling and vibe that a film shoots for and translates it into a musical collection that's indispensable, effectively carrying the movie's vibe eternally for audiences everywhere. When it happens, it just works on every level, and audiences get the chance to literally carry a piece of the movie wherever they go within that soundtrack. In this case, they get all Fifty Shades and more. The Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack [iTunes link] masterfully brings together classics from Frank Sinatra and The Rolling Stones with two of The Weeknd's best songs yet, "Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)" and "Where You Belong," a Skylar Grey gem "I Know," Sia's phenomenal "Salted Wound," and more.
The Weeknd's music was made for this subject matter. In fact, he communicates dark lust as well as the source material itself but with his own enigmatic futuristic sheen. That tradition remains upheld on the Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack.
Matching that energy, Beyoncé's "Crazy In Love" (2014 Remix) is a sexy noir-ish interpretation of the original that drips love and darkness, while the Michael Diamond remix of "Haunted" haunts in the best way possible.
Ultimately, this soundtrack is going to live for a long time in the hearts and souls of audiences everywhere. It elevates The Weeknd once more towards legendary status as an added bonus.
