Alex Turner and Miles Kanes, aka The Last Shadow Puppets ooze rock & roll. From the second you step into their world, it's as if you've crossed into a separate but parallel reality, and make no mistake: this is their world and you're only a tourist.
The duo thrive on each other, cracking jokes constantly. The dynamic is rather a Beatles-esque scenario, with everyone else just trying to catch the end of jokes they've already laughed about. It's as if they speak a parlance all their own - a specific dialect of rock ‘n' roll.
Shortly after interviewing The Last Shadow Puppets in Los Angeles our correspondent's phone was stolen at a nearby pub, along with the recording of our original interview. That actually seemed par for the course, however, and just a minor casualty in the war of rock ‘n' roll - one that should almost be expected after any meeting with Turner and Kane. Somehow, their world rubs off on you even after you've left.
Thanks to a few kinds words and a little understanding, ARTISTdirect's Christopher Friedmann was quickly able to catch up with Alex Turner again, just before the release of The Last Shadow Puppets' second album, Everything You've Come to Expect, and discuss home, dreams, and why you should never get into a text battle with Miles Kane.
