Alex Woodard Playing Special Charity Show in San Diego
Thu, 03 Apr 2014 10:27:42
Author and singer-songwriter Alex Woodard will celebrate the launch of his sophomore book/CD, For the Sender Love Is (Not a Feeling), with a special, one-off concert event on Friday April 11 at the Star Theatre in Oceanside, San Diego.
Hosted in collaboration with local non-profit, Feeding the Soul Foundation, this wonderfully moving show will see Alex joined on stage by a number of critically acclaimed musicians, including Jordan Pundik (New Found Glory), Molly Jenson, Jack Tempchin (The Eagles) and many more very special guests.
Together, they will bring Alex's latest project to life, sharing the heartfelt letters that are at the center of the book with the songs that they inspired.
Tickets are priced at $25 and proceeds from the show, together with donations, will be split between Feeding the Soul and ECOLIFE®, whose core mission is to provide ecologically sustainable water, food and shelter to communities through education-applied programs.
In this second book in the For the Sender series, Woodard once again weaves his own compelling story through those of five others, whose letters tell of ordinary people living extraordinary lives, showing tremendous courage and acts of kindness on a daily basis. Accompanying the book is an album of 13 songs inspired by these letters.
"The stories and songs that are at the very heart of the For the Sender project are about the extraordinary things that can happen in ordinary moments when love looks like an action, not a feeling," said Woodard. "There's some kind of resurrection born in these small things we do for each other, and this chance to start over in every moment is the thread running through this latest book and accompanying album."
ECOLIFE® will benefit at the request of the family of recently-passed, beloved San Diego broadcaster, Loren Nancarrow, whose tremendously inspiring and moving story is one of the five featured in the new For the Sender book.

One of Alex's songs is inspired by Scarlett Lewis, a mom who lost her six-year-old son in the Sandy Hook shooting. A letter she wrote to Alex and that she wrote to her son after his death allowed Alex to celebrate Jesse's short life.
