    The ninth annual Black Ball, which benefits Alicia Keys' Keep a Child Alive charity was scheduled for Thursday, November 1. But due to the massive devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, it has been postponed. A new date for the event will be announced in a few weeks.

    "Our thoughts and prayers are with all our fellow New Yorkers affected by this devastating storm," the organization said in a statement.

    Much of Manhattan (and a good chunk of the East Coast) was without power after the winds and rain of Sandy pounded the metropolis on Monday, October 29.
