Alicia Keys is no longer the creative director of the beleaguered BlackBerry, a position she held for a year. The partnership had a great launch but waned as 2013 carried on.

The singer did her part in the yearlong post, where she was prominent and visible at various events, like those that introduced the new products early in the year. When the new phones flopped, her role began to fade. The company is in dire straits, laying off a chunk of its workforce, and many of the people who worked there when Keys came onboard are no longer employed by the company.

So, no, it's not a shocking split.

The company simply said to The New York Times that "BlackBerry and Alicia Keys have completed our yearlong collaboration." The company was very positive about her efforts.

Do you use an iPhone, Android or BlackBerry? Ah, BlackBerries. Those are so 2008.
