Alpha Media Shuts Down Blender - After eight years on the racks

Alpha Media Group has decided to make the April issue of Blender its last. As reported on AdAge.com, the publisher held a meeting this morning, cutting 30 jobs and leaving Maxim as its only remaining magazine title. Aside from that, Blender's editor, Joe Levy, was shifted to Maxim's EIC post, replacing Jim Kaminsky. And Jay Woodruff, the editor in chief of Maxim Digital, was moved to a chief content officer position at the magazine. As of these changes, Alpha will still employ 134 people.

"Since 2001, Blender has provided unmatched music coverage and entertainment news in its unique voice to a profoundly dedicated audience of music enthusiasts," Stephen Duggan, Alpha Media's CEO, said in a company memo. "We are particularly grateful to the sales team and to the tremendously talented editorial staff for their hard work and commitment to Blender."
