AlunaGeorge, Elliphant, Mitski, Eleanor Friedberger Lead Top Music Videos Of The Week - April 9 -15

Music videos come in all shapes, sizes, and budgets these days. M.I.A. teamed up with H&M to promote the clothing brand's World Recycle Week project with her video for "Rewear It." The Flaming Lips took on the David Bowie-classic "Space Oddity" and turned into a mesmerizing and haunting display. Meanwhile, Young Thug went the more traditional route, juxtaposing private jets and convenient stores in his video for "King Troup."
Foals made a live video for "Rain," which was filmed at La Fabrique in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France. Blue women and colorful backdrops fill the lense on Bloc Party's "Virtue." Deftones' video for "Prayers/Triangles" put darkness side by side with spinning and blooming clouds of color. Your Friend burnt a car and then set out on a walk through an almost untouched winter forest in "Gumption." And that was only the beginning for a week filled with music videos that came in all shades and styles.
Here are our favorites:
Delorean - "Muzik" - Directed by Onionlab
Speaking of shapes, rarely are pulsating rectangles and orbs so hypnotic. It seems as if the orbs have bonded with one another palpitating within in their abstract box. Delorean's video for "Muzik" is not complex, but sometimes all you need is a throbbing heart in a cage to shape the frame around you.
AlunaGeorge - "I Remember" [ft. Flume] - Directed by Daniel Iglesias Jr.
A messy bedroom, a neon pink flamingo, and a well-framed shot, toss in the gorgeous Aluna Francis, and you just may have a beautiful music video on your hands. The unmoving panoramic shot only helps to increase the intensity of the movements within the small room, making the video for "I Remember" [ft. Flume] seem as much like a dream as it does a memory.
Eleanor Friedberger - "Does Turquoise Work?" - Animation by Jonathan Rosen
"Does Turquoise Work?" Yes, simplistic turquoise drawings against a black background do work. It may seem a bit "on the nose," but the drawings, despite their lack of detail, convey all one needs. Friedberger doesn't need much to make her talents shine, but the video helps take them to another level.
Elliphant - "Spoon Me" [ft. Skrillex]
Ellinor Miranda Salome Olovsdotter, better known by her stage name Elliphant, thrives in the world of juxtaposition. A blonde swedish woman who is more akin to M.I.A. than ABBA, she is able to mix the thriving Scandinavian electronic scene with hip hop and pop. The video for "Spoon Me" [ft. Skrillex] places Elliphant in Pakistan and she couldn't seem more at home.
Mitski - "Your Best American Girl" - Directed by Zia Anger
When "You're Best American Girl" came out, much of the internet music scene went nuts. The video for the song deserves just as much attention, and watching Mitski rage on guitar is pure pleasure.
