Amazon chose today to enter the ever-expanding online music business. The mega-site launched its AmazonMP3 digital music store, with an inventory of over 2 million songs. In a competitive pricing maneuver, it has also made some of its MP3s available for $.89, $.10 cheaper than iTunes' prices.
This worries industry insiders who are concerned about the potential financial impact on labels and artists. Already facing a decreased fraction of total sales, marking down digital file prices is sure to make the situation worse for both. Moreover, the digital files are not restricted to one formatsongs can be played on all available digital music players. Your move iTunes.
