"American Psycho" Musical Has Been Canceled But It Could Have a Future

The off-Broadway production of American Psycho, the controversial Bret Easton Ellis novel about Patrick Bateman, an excessively materialistic and yuppie serial killer, brought maniacally to life at the multiplex by the always amazeballs Christian Bale in what we think is one of his best roles, has been canceled after financial backers have pulled out. But the project might have a bigger, brighter and better future, actually.
Artistic Director Carole Rothman issued a statement, which read: "We are disappointed that we will not be producing American Psycho this season, but the rights holders, Act 4 Entertainment, have decided to not move forward with the production at Second Stage. We will be announcing a new production in its place in the coming weeks."
WENN indicated that perhaps the off-Broadway plans were canceled so that those funding the project can do a Broadway run instead.
The musical was co-penned by singer Duncan Sheik.
Would you see Patrick Bateman on Broadway if the musical gets there?
