Amos Lee's "Mission Bell" Nabs #1 Slot on "Billboard" Top 200

Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Amos Lee scored the #1 slot on the Billboard Top 200 chart this week with Mission Bell, his fourth album. It was the highest chart position and best sales week of his career. Congrats to Lee for his accomplishments, although it is terrifying that the #1 record in the country sold less than 45,000 copies. Perhaps it was the bad weather than has been blanketing the country, preventing people from shopping.
Produced by Calexico's Joey Burns, Mission Bell is Lee's richest and most fully formed recording to date, displaying an array of emotions unified by his eclectic taste and distinctive vocals. With a remarkable set of guests — including Lucinda Williams, Willie Nelson, Iron & Wine's Sam Beam, Priscilla Ahn, Pieta Brown, and James Gadson — and the musical backing of Calexico, the album is an indie hit.
