Celebrated tenor Andrea Bocelli's upcoming album, Cinema (October 23, Sugar Music/Universal Music Group and Verve Music Group) will feature the vocalist's distinctive adaptations of some of the most beloved songs set to film. Selections from classics like Doctor Zhivago, Love Story, The Godfather, Life is Beautiful, Gladiator, The Postman, and Breakfast at Tiffany's all get the treatment, as does Ennio Morricone's ballad "E Più Ti Penso," a duet with Ariana Grande that the artist debuted today with a gorgeous video.
The soaring ballad is featured in both Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America and Giuseppe Tornatore’s Malèna, and its video evokes the romance of those two director’s Italian heritage (it was partially filmed in Rome) as well as Bocelli's, who looks right at home—though, a little wistful—strolling the grounds near Saint Angelo castle. Grande, meanwhile, is in Tokyo, overlooking the Sensō-ji temple. The song’s title translates to “the more I think of you,” and together, their voices, tender, delicate, and sweeping, elevate one another to great heights.
Former child star Grande, just 22, says, “to have a record with Andrea is so surreal and so special and something that I never really thought would happen.” Take a listen to those pipes, though; you know she earned the spot (incidentally, one that has nabbed a new chart for the young singer: #1 on Billboard's Classical Digital Songs).
