We're stoked for this news. Our fave Italian tenor will have his own exhibit. That's right! "Andrea Bocelli: Story of a Voice" will launch at the GRAMMY Museum on Dec. 8.
The exhibit will offer visitors the unprecedented opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the world's most significant classical artists.
"As one of the world's greatest tenors, a performer whose dynamic performances have become legendary and a public figure whose sincerity is significant and longstanding, Andrea Bocelli is truly a voice for the new millennium," said GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli. "We're excited and honored for this opportunity to showcase and celebrate his music and career with our visitors."
On display through Feb. 12, 2012, the exhibit will feature:
- Bocelli's Pinkerton costume from the Operatic performance of Madama Butterfly
- Vinyl of "Cavalleria Rusticana" by Franco Corelli, M. Callas, G. De Stefano, considered to be one of Bocelli's greatest influences
- Bocelli's silver flute
- And much more…
On the same day as the launch, Bocelli will participate in a unique educational program, also produced by The GRAMMY Museum. Titled Backstage Pass: Andrea Bocelli, the program will invite Los Angeles-area high school students to hear Bocelli speak about his extraordinary life and career. Students from The Colburn School, The Harmony Project and LA Opera's Youth Program will participate.
The following day, on Dec. 9, Andrea Bocelli, along with The GRAMMY Museum Foundation will celebrate the launch of The Andrea Bocelli Foundation with cocktails, dinner and a live performance, produced by Studiomusica USA and Jo Champa, starring Andrea Bocelli, David Foster, Heather Headley, Anna Maria Martinez and other surprise guests at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Andrea Bocelli: Story Of A Voice will take the space most-recently occupied by the temporary exhibit, Roy Orbison: The Soul of Rock & Roll. The GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE is located at 800 West Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90015. With an entrance off of Figueroa Street (one-half block from STAPLES Center), the Museum is located within the L.A. LIVE sports and entertainment district, at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles. For more information, call 213.765.6800 or visit www.grammymuseum.org.
