Beyoncé prides herself on being pro-women and she is seen as a feminist by many of her fans. She always supports women's initiatives. However, fellow singer Annie Lennox takes issue with Bey's femme politics, saying they're "lite." As in fluffy and of little substance. Ouch!

"I would call that 'feminist lite,'" Lennox told PrideSource. "L-I-T-E. I'm sorry. It's tokenistic to me. I mean, I think she's a phenomenal artist. I just love her performances, but I'd like to sit down [with her.] I see a lot of it as them taking the word hostage and using it to promote themselves, but I don't think they necessarily represent wholeheartedly the depths of feminism, no, I don't. I think for many it's very convenient and it looks great and it looks radical, but I have some issues with it…I think it's a cheap shot. I think what they do with it is cheap and what can I tell you? Sex always sells."

So Lennox doesn't think Bey is a real feminist fighting for change and women's rights. She seems to think that Bey uses the word more than she means it or lives it. Hmm.

What do you think of Annie Lennox's comments about Bey's brand of feminism? Is she off base or on point? Discuss amongst yourselves, ARTISTdirectioners.
