Anthrax’s Charlie Benante On ‘For All Kings,’ And The Cost Of Being A Drummer

Whether you know the band as a metal fan, for its hip-hop-metal mashups with Public Enemy, or simply as one of the most enduring rock acts of the era (it’s been thrashing since 1981), Anthrax needs little introduction. Having just released its first LP in five years, the 11th studio album For All Kings (out now, Megaforce), Anthrax today is as vital and assaultive as ever, thanks in part to a little fresh blood courtesy of new lead guitarist Jon Donais (of Shadows Fall), along with the classic lineup of Joey Belladonna, Scott Ian, Frank Bello, and Charlie Benante.
It was Benante who took a few moments from a very busy schedule to share some insights about the new album, tour plans, his recovery from carpal tunnel syndrome, as well as a few highlights from an incredible career as one of the top metal bands in the world.
