The classic war flick, Apocalypse Now, will be released for the first time on Blu-ray October 19. To celebrate the upcoming Blu-ray release, ARTISTdirect.com is proud to debut this clip of director Francis Ford Coppola and screenwriter John Millius discussing the use of music in the film, including and especially Wagner and The Doors. Music was beautifully and effectively used in the film so listening to the powers-that-be talk about this element of their film in conversation is riveting. Millius says he wrote most of the script while listening to The Doors and said that he considered The Doors the music of war and when he told the band that, they were horrified.
Coppola talks about knowing the late Jim Morrison when he was a UCLA film student and how it's ironic that he was the son of an admiral, and his music became synonymous with the Vietnam War-era.
The clip is just two minutes long, so check it out.
