Arab Strap have restored music fans' faith in humanity and hope by announcing that they will reunite for three 20th anniversary concerts. The beloved duo of Malcolm Middleton and Aidan Moffat shared the news during an interview on Steve Lamacq's show on BBC Radio 6.
Since the duo broke up in 2006 they have released compilation albums and reissued work, but this announcement, along with an updated version of their song "The First Big Weekend" (aptly retitled "The First Big Weekend of 2016"), is the first time the pair have creatively collaborated on a new venture in ten years.
After the release of their last studio album, 2005's The Last Romance, the duo split with a reasoned statement: "There's no animosity, no drama. We simply feel we've run our course. The Last Romance seems the most obvious and logical final act of the Arab Strap studio adventure. Everybody likes a happy ending."
During the show the duo joked that they had been arguing over which songs they'll play at their shows, and suggested that if the shows go well they may well start developing new material for future release.
The first 20th Anniversary show will be held on October 13th in London, England. Arab Strap will then play the next day in Manchester, England, followed by a final show in Glasgow, Scotland on October 15th.
Arab Strap 20th Anniversary shows:
10-13 London, England - Brixton Electric
10-14 Manchester, England - O2 Ritz
10-15 Glasgow, Scotland - Barrowland Ballroom
