Arcade Fire recently announced their first shows since 2014. The band's headlining a couple of festivals this summer; Portugal's NOS Alive (July 9th), Spain's Bilbao BBK Live (July 7-9), and Ontario's WayHome Music & Arts Festival (July 22-24) . Prior to these shows, approximately a season in advance, they played a very special concert with David Byrne the other night. The band was represented by Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, and Richard Reed Parry. Notable to the night's show was the unique artistic synthesis in the form of a David Byrne-fronted-Arcade Fire performing Talking Heads songs.
The show was held on February 19th, at Montreal's The Society for Arts and Technology to benefit KANPE, the charity for Haiti co-founded by Arcade Fire's own Régine Chassagne. Alongside David Byrne, Arcade Fire were joined by special guests Saul Williams and Rainn Wilson ("The Office"). All proceeds of the show went to KANPE.
KANPE implements family support programs that focus on health, nutrition, housing, education, agriculture, and leadership. The group works solely in Haiti, and integrates "community services, so that all factors contributing to poverty are addressed simultaneously," says the foundation's website. For more on Arcade Fire:
