Back in January, Arcade Fire celebrated the life of David Bowie through a second line parade in New Orleans. The band first posted a variety of photos and videos to Instagram, and now has put together a professional video of the commemoration featuring the funky, New Orleans-style cover of "Heroes" it performed in the streets with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band..
During the event, which took place January 16th, Stereogum reported, "Arcade Fire and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band held a second line in New Orleans today in honor of David Bowie. Mourners and revelers dressed in their best Bowie costumes and assembled at Preservation Hall at 4 p.m. to kick off the "Pretty Things" parade, named for the Hunky Dory track 'Oh! You Pretty Things,' before winding their way through the French Quarter.".
Artists and fans the world over mourned the passing of David Bowie, who died on January 10th, just days after his 69th birthday and his 25th album, Blackstar, was released..
Arcade Fire is currently preparing for a few shows this summer, including headlining gigs at NOS Alive in Lisbon, Spain's Bilbao BBK Live Festival, and Ontario, Canada's WayHome Festival. They will also be playing a benefit show on February 19th for KANPE, at Montreal, Canada's Society for Arts and Technology.
