Arctic Monkeys lived up to their "biggest band of a generation" tag in the NME last night by winning three awards at the magazine's annual "Shockwaves" award show including best British band, best track ("Fluorescent Adolescent") and best video ("Teddy Picker"). Amy Winehouse, on the other hand, won only one of the four categories she was nominated in: worst dressed.

Other triumphs included Pete Doherty for hero of the year, Kylie Minogue for sexiest woman, Klaxons for best album (Myths of the Near Future), Kate Nash for best solo artist, Muse for best live band, and the Killers for best international band yet again. (They also won last year.)
