Ariana Grande literally took a packed house at The Forum on a Honeymoon tonight alongside tour mates Rixton and Cashmere Cat. Now, a lot of greats have graced the stage and charmed the iconic Los Angeles venue, ranging from Madonna to Fleetwood Mac—just to name a few. Its hallowed halls have seen some classic tours, and The Honeymoon Tour can be added to that list now. It also firms up Ariana’s place at the top of pop music, which she’s worked harder than anybody for. This girl’s put in the time and made two phenomenal albums, Yours Truly and My Everything, and it’s her time to rule arenas and stadiums.
The real mark of a superstar is making an arena feel intimate. Ariana Grande did just that. Her pristine performance remained flawless throughout from the bounce of “Bang Bang” to the shimmering “The Way.” That voice is reaching the heights of legend, literally filling the venue and practically floating off passed the Hollywood Hills. Moreover, she worked the edge of the stage, literally drawing everybody in especially during My Everything standouts like flirty fun “Hands on Me” and a downright massive “Break Free.” The floor practically moved during the latter as her voice carried each hook with unparalleled confidence and charisma.
In addition to the surprises from Justin Bieber and David Foster, she never stopped moving either, and that energy transferred to the crowd seamlessly. It was uncontainable during the smoothly sweet “Honeymoon Avenue” and even as the tempo reeled back during “Tattooed Heart.” It’s on the ballads that Ariana’s star truly shines. She’s got this impressive talent personally cultivated to a point of perfection. You could practically feel fans shudder as that emotion transferred on those robust runs and hooks. This is the voice that the world has needed and waited for, bringing a classy charm to music with all of the modern savvy and sass. Fans helped ignite “Problem” as she smiled throughout. She might tell you she’s got the best fans. She really deserves that love.
Earlier in the evening, British four-piece Rixton delivered a stunning, slick, and soaring set of their own. The guys commanded the stage with a kinetic hop that got everybody bouncing, simultaneously swinging each and every verse with poise and passion.
