It was announced today that author, Rick Florino (Do the Devil's Work for Him: How to Make it in the Music Industry / Founder, Ruin Magazine / Editor, ARTISTdirect.com) will release his brand new illustrated novel, DOLOR: LILA, as a FREE digital download via the official website, www.bookofdolor.com, on Tuesday, October 20, 2009.
Visitors may choose to download a free copy of this epic, illustrated work of horror, or buy a limited edition hardcopy signed by the author, which is available for a purchase of $15. There will only be 1,000 hardcopies available; pre-orders are available now.
Florino continues to create a wealth of content about movies, music and the Hollywood scene as editor of ARTISTdirect. With the aid of these ties he was successful in garnering notable musician contributions from multi-platinum Grammy winners such as Korn, Guns N' Roses, System of a Down and Deftones to include in his first book, Do the Devil's Work, helping sell over 1,000+ copies since its release in June earlier this year. The book has been featured on broad-reaching news outlets such as No Good TV & FOX News, also having received critical acclaim from AOL.com’s ‘Noisecreep,’ Music Connection Magazine and Outburn Magazine among other publications.
With Florino transitioning to his true passion…fiction writing… the foray into this horror genre venture is being facilitated though his production company, New American Deities. The conscious decision to release the first installment of the DOLOR series at no cost is a way to introduce this truly terrifying and hypnotic world to readers. Supplemented with hand-drawn artwork by artist Tony Caso makes LILA not just a story, but an experience. Through words and pictures, it tells the tale of ‘Officer Caleb Taylor.’
Caleb Taylor is going through Hell. His daughter just drowned and his wife has disappeared without a trace. However, something begins to stir him from beyond the grave. It won't let him rest until he finds out the truth…
With a combination of dark visuals and gripping narrative, DOLOR is a one-of-a-kind horror saga.
