We sat on this story for a minute, since it involves people we know. Now, we can comment further. As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis was arrested on Tuesday, May 7 in Oceanside, California as part of a murder-for-hire plot. He allegedly had solicited someone to kill his estranged wife Meggan. Cops were alerted and the singer was arrested. He plead not guilty at his arraignment, where he was charged with solicitation of murder.
The couple, who adopted three children, aged 4, 8 and 10, from Ethiopia, had an amicable split, according to divorce docs, with Meggan indicating she did have some concerns about her husband's obsessive bodybuilding and the fact that he was distracted –texting and falling asleep- when with the kids. He saw the children 10 hours per week when not on tour, per her statements and the documents.
The band, due to tour at the end of the month with Killswitch Engage, issued the following statement to fans:
"To our fans:
As we post this, the legal process is taking its course and we have no more information than you do. There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We'll keep you informed as best we can.
Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation - and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.
Thank you for understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.
- Jordan, Nick, Phil, and Josh."
Lambesis was arraigned yesterday (May 9) and according to reports and tweets from the courtroom, which you can read at twitter.com/angiecbs8, his bail was set to $3 million; his ex-wife fears for her life; the singer reportedly gave an undercover cop cash, pictures of his wife, dates and information about his wife in order to kill her, such as the key code to the gate of her home; and asked it be done while he was with the kids, as that would establish an alibi. The prosecutors say that there is an audio recording and that he is considered a flight risk.
Lastly, he plead not guilty and his band was in court to show support. His lawyer said that it is a set up.
We'll have more information as it becomes available. But tell us, AILD fans. What do you think about these accusations?
