His Punk'd and That '70s Show days may be in the past, but Ashton Kutcher is returning to the small screen. Kutcher is developing two scripted series for the CW via his Katalyst Films production banner.
The projects include The Beautiful Life, which centers on young models of both sexes living in New York City. The series will follow the characters of Christopher and Reyna, two models on very different career paths. This show represents familiar territory for Kutcher, who was once a model himself, but the series is not based on his life. Rather, it recounts the experiences of writer Adam Giaudrone, who was a model before turning to writing.
The other show in development is dubbed Chloe Gamble, which is based on the forthcoming book The One, due in stores in March of next year. It follows the life of a Texas beauty queen who heads to the City of Angels to pursue dreams of stardom with her mother and twin brother in tow. The series will be told from a future point of view, with Chloe reflecting on her experiences later in her lifetime. The producers may even cast the character via the web, since the show will include an internet component.
In the film world, Katalyst is developing a feature version of The Outriders young adult book series.
