If anybody could very well bring rock 'n' roll back to its heights of '80s popularity and potency, it's Asking Alexandria.
They manage to infuse anthemic metallic hard rock with the kind of swagger that made girls take their tops off and throw their panties on stage at shows back in the day. It's a hallmark that nobody else has anymore, and it's very welcome.
It was only a matter of time before they tackled the classics from rock's '80s heyday that inspired them, and they knock these renditions out of the park on their exclusive EP for Revolver Magazine, Under the Influence: A Tribute to the Legends of Hard Rock. Asking Alexandria injects a whole kinds of heavy bravado into Journey's "Separate Ways", Mötley Crüe's "Kickstart My Heart", Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again", and Def Leppard's "Hysteria". Every element feels amped up. Singer Danny Worsnop's gritty delivery reverberates potently, while Ben Bruce and Cameron Liddell's guitar playing proves to be top-notch again. You'll be humming along to the fist-pumping bliss enclosed in these four tracks.
Asking Alexandria prove worthy of the legacy before them and even cause reason for my salivation over their hotly anticipated third full-length next year.
