Athlete to Be First Rock Band Ever Heard on Doctor Who

The UK band Athlete will have their song "Changes" used as the first ever rock song on the long- running science fiction hit, Doctor Who. The song plays during a key point in the upcoming episode "Vincent and the Doctor," which can be seen for the first time in the U.S. on BBC America this Saturday night June 26 at 9 PM. Writer Richard Curtis, of Notting Hill, Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral fame, wrote the episode and personally requested the song's use, as well. That's what I call friends in high places.
"We are delighted that our song was chosen by the legendary Richard Curtis to be used in Doctor Who," commented lead singer Joel Pott. "The show is such a long standing and iconic BBC drama and to be the first band to ever have a song on the soundtrack really is an honour."
