Azealia Banks let loose on Twitter yesterday, again. This time her tirade was aimed at ex-One Direction member Zayn Malik. Banks let loose a series of insulting, racist, and provocative tweets at Malik. According to NME, "The disagreement began when Banks took objection to Malik's new 'Like I Would' video, which was released on Tuesday (May 10). She posted a picture to Instagram, pointing out the alleged similarities to her previous videos and style choices. "Damn Zayn be mood boarding the f*** of out me," she wrote, adding: "I'm not mad about this though. Zayn is a cutie pie"."
Later, it seemed as if Malik responded to Banks by Tweeting, "No lies... I see you reaching but I don't care". And then he added "My @'s too good for you". From there things have only spiraled downward, with Banks releasing a non-stop avalanche of responses, which Twitter has since deleted. For a look at some of the tweets check out, NME's article.
Stereogum reports, "Banks was scheduled to headline one day of London institution Rinse.FM's forthcoming Born & Bred festival, which has a lineup heavy on grime, dance, and rap. And after she bugged out like that, as NME points out, the festival dropped her from its lineup in a Twitter statement."
Azealia Banks released her new mixtape, Slay-Z, back in March. There has been no announcement about when we can expect a follow up to her 2014 debut LP, Broke with Expensive Taste.
