Famed director Barry Levinson, who rose to fame on the back of films like ...And Justice for All, The Natural, and Diner, is getting back in the directing saddle again. He has agreed to lens Train, a noir-ish film for Lakeshore Entertainment. The film will be based on the novel by Peter Dexter.
The book and film are set in the 1950s and explore race relations in Los Angeles during that time period, with white protagonist Miller Packard serving as a sergeant in the San Diego Police Department. He eventually links up with Lionel "Train" Walk, a black golf caddy who happens to know something about a murder than Packard is investigating. Production dates are TBD.
