Days after founding member Adam "MCA" Yauch lost his battle with salivary gland cancer, the surviving members of the Beastie Boys have learned that they are now staring down a new copyright lawsuit over samples.
Tuf America has accused the group of illegally sampling Trouble Funk's "Say What" and "Drop the Bomb" on "The New Style," "Car Thief," ""Shadrach" and "Hold It, Now Hit It," all from the Boys'early catalog.
All Hip-Hop reports that Tuf America execs are looking to go to trial to determine the appropriate amount of damage.
The papers were filed in New York one day before Yauch died. He passed at 47 on Friday, May 4.
Timing is everything.
What do you think of this suit?
